USA
- NATS Div.1 2006
Chicagoland Raceway - LaGrange, IL - July 28 - August 6, 2006
To Chicago I came ready for the race and most of the works were done at home. Two complete G27 and four open cars with 6 resp. 20 motors. Plenty tires, gears etc.
I arrived on Tuesday afternoon to O'Hare International and by suburb taxi to the Chicagoland Raceway (30 minutes/ $ 30).
Wednesday morning started Warm Up race and I choose my new Voki T6 alloy chassis to test it in the race. Qualifying perfect, 1.st place with 1,635 sec. But during the semi some heavy crash and right pillow-block broke from the chassis. I tried to put it back but it was not possible. I have to retire from the race.
Followed USRA meeting and Geezer race. I tried SMF chassis and I won qualifying (1,611) and also the main (1st place with 960 laps). Thanks to all final guys to let me win.
Free day on Thursday I made some reworks on used open motors and test G27 motors for next day race.
On Friday in G27 Pro I want to make hat trick and to win qualifying 3rd. time, but sorry. Benny was faster and allowed me to be only second. My preferred class finished very early in the quarters. In 2nd heat I spin one gear on axle and next heat died my motor. I was out from the race. Only consolation was I not need to marshal semis and the main :-))))
On Saturday morning work and work again. Every one slotracer knows it well. At the noon came Jerry Kulich and took me to him home and later to his daughter Yvana. We returned after the amateur main and I can congratulate to Terry Kunz to win with VOKI setups.
Finally Sunday the big day the G7 Pro race. I hope you trust me I wanted to continue in good qualifying results, but NO ONE GOOD LAP !!! Doesn't matter 32 drivers straight in the quarters. Fantastic working car and 14M setups allowed me to win my quarter and set second most laps in quarters. Semi was not so good, but anyway 2nd place in semi B behind Beuf and 3rd overall by laps in Semis. The main final began very early. Only 20 minutes for car repairs is not too much. My body and chassis were OK. I changed bearings and lead wire. Just cleaned body and repaired back side body pin tape.
The first heat on white lane was OK. Sometimes I forget to brake in the ninety and to get back to the race cost me few laps. (133 laps/4th place). The same case on the red (117/6th) :-((( After second heat I changed motor and tires. Good run on green back me to the podium (136/3rd). Blue lane lost 10 laps don't remember why (126/3rd). For the purple motor change but not tires. This cost me many laps loosing clearance - crashing in the doughnut (119/3rd). The black was bad bad bad. (117/3rd) Emerson from Brazil was very close to me. The same on the yellow with fresh motor and tires. (117/3rd.). For the last heat new motor again and I won this heat with 128 laps and kept the 3rd position.
At the end I must say thanks to Mike and Roger and all raceway crew. Very impressive was the T-shirt collection.
