Kuovola, Finland, 16. - 20. 9. 2004 – European Championship G27, G7
Super references about this track and the will of Pilsners organizers,
they should to host the EC race this year, moved the race to Finish
Kuovola. I must say one of 4 -5 world best tracks. Jari Portinnen made
here the qualifying world record with 1.548. We expected if the track
is so fast and if somebody could make the 40 minutes world record. I
must say yes, it is fast very fast. The winner Vladimir Horky came with
1124 laps close to Chicky's 1133 from Warm Up race in Port Jeff.
My racing began with G27 race. I didn't run Warm Up, because always I
run it I made good result, but my performance go down in following
races.
This tactics was successful; I won Quali and finished 3rd. Chassis SMF,
Body Peugeot 138/28, tires Koford WX.
The open race began badly with very short practice Saturday morning. I
tested 2 cars and chose the better one of course. (Zap 4.450; Peugeot
139/30). But the car sounds bad, some stupid husky sound. And it didn't
disappear with motor or gears change. First bye I run 1.741 and
destroyed the gear after first lap. The second bye second motor slowed
down, I lost a twine from commutator and run 2.000
My quarter began fine for me, I led the group on blue lane but some
crashes pushed me back to 4th, but with close gap. Purple was fine, but
on the black I heated Pekka's car under the bridge. I finished the heat
and changed the gear and tires, but gears problems continued. After
change in the heat I gave some bad tire and can't go around the track.
After third gear I give up and didn't continue. In the pits I found
mistake. The motor was broken under pinion from chassis, but kept on
the motor brace. And the husky sound came from bad bearing…
See you here on the Worlds 2005.
